I had to share that today Mom and I went to the car shop to get my wheelchair tire changed lol! The local wheelchair repair guy couldn’t get the stripped stainless steel bolt out about 10 months ago. He was at it for almost 2 hours while I was being charged $45/hr so I had him stop then and let me take the new tire home. But hubby couldn’t get the bolt out either. So today we just went for last resort because the old tire was more bald than Savalas. And while we were there we had the van get some love too for some lube and oil. Incidentally they are lovingly referred to as Betty and Van Gogh, right Red?

I was really hoping to get this piece done by now since it’s fairly simple and small at 8×10. But I think Mom is getting restless and she was literally cleaning and bumping around me today while I painted so I had to stop and play Scrabble with her. I think the painting is looking so sweet in more ways than one. Sweet in that it’s a sweet shot and sweet for artists who just melt when they feel they are hitting the right colors and the feeling they envisioned.

The glamorous life and times of an artist!

  1. Red, here.

Yup, Betty and Van Gogh…I take credit for the Betty naming. I think you coined Van Gogh! Take some good time with your mom, the commissions will get done sometime. and STAY HEALTHY! We have a cold winter in front us…may need to come to you for a paint day!

BTW, Randy has put out feelers for vans like you need…I’m sure they don’t come along every day. At least we have the universe ‘stirred’.

new commie looks good. How many more do you have?

  2. Red, thanks to you and Randy for checking out your resources. Van Gogh is being reeeeally temperamental. But I just love it when it’s a “good day” lol

I have this current 8×10 and another one same size then just gotta finish the x-rated one. I’d like to do a dog painting for the sweetheart who helped my Mom when we had to take her to emergency last September though.

  3. Hey Alice, Mom’s name is Alice too 🙂 Thanks, I’m trying to keep the painting the quiet comfort to it, glad you picked up on that!

Van Gogh is just really old at 146,000 miles to it. It’s mainly the the brittled wires to the wheelchair modifications that’s an issue.

  4. I hope your wheelchair tire is ok now. I work around wheelchairs in the classroom I’m in. Once we had one chair that nearly lost a wheel! I wanted to tell you that a couple of weeks ago I watch three of your videos that you had on the side bar. They were great! And I especially liked Joey. That’s a cute little chihuahua painting you did. Also the sleeping mom.

  5. Erika, I hope your wheelchair is in good health now. The portrait of mom and baby is coming along very sweet. Can’t wait to see the completed image. Have lots of fun with your mom!!

  6. Hi Tiglizzyclone! I once lost a front wheel on my way to a restaurant – good thing I crossed the street first! A friend happened by my direction and he was nice enough to wheel me back to the university! Thanks, I guess you understand the significance of Betty 😉 Thanks for you attention to my art and video – Joey says “Hi!”
